Introducing MWONL ...
Multicultural Women's Organization of Newfoundland and Labrador is a provincial voluntary non-profit organization. Funded initially by the Secretary of State for Multicultural Women and Citizenship our goal is to identify and assess the cultural, social, employment, economic and educational needs of multicultural women at the provincial level. We also promote positive relationships amongst the ethnic minorities. MWONL has been conducting numerous projects, studies, and research throughout the years. A detail of the past and on-going projects is provided in our Projects and Reports section.
The objectives of MWONL are :
- To identify the cultural, social, economic and educational needs of multicultural women at the provincial level.
- To provide social support for multicultural women in terms of cultural, social, political, economic, and educational areas at the provincial level.
- To advocate issues affecting immigrant and visible minority women.
- To heighten public awareness on the status of immigrant women within the province and in Canada.
- To promote changes where necessary and enhance the quality of lives of women of various ethno-cultural backgrounds.
